DREAMING OF NEREID'S WITH THE DRAGONS

Hello my Lovelies, finally got some photo's. This challenge for the Dragons Dream is the letter N with  stencils here, again there is some gorgeous tags from the team and other players, they never fail to inspire me to dream along..
My tag is huge, 19 inches all together, to large to take it photo's on my desk, I would have loved to have taken them in a backyard, but you'll have to see it, well try to see it with all that going on in the background:O)...

I didn't take any photos of the process just got on the wave and away I flowed.
I was looking for a word in my dictionary as I do, the last word was nymph, it said they were mermaids as well as minor goddess of sea and woods . I have a lot of mermaid stamps from my Besty Tonniece. This is going to be my Sister's BD gift, which is why it's a bit of a bigger tag, she said I should give some of my tags away, so killing to cats with one stone  sorry to all the cat lovers :O)...

When I was creating the word I was wondering if the plural of nymphs  needed an apostrophe. Wikipedia didn't have mermaids in it's description of nymphs , what??? I had almost finished making it, I saw the word Nereid's meaning , in Greek mythology are sea nymphs, ( female spirits of sea waters )...

I started with a piece of mixed media paper, 14 x 4 3/4 9 in. used all of my Tim's blue ink all over it, then stamped them in bleach I too love this technique, then stamped over it with my Memento black ink,I used some metallic gelato's for their scales, for a little shimmer..
I stencils some waves in faded jeans also used the sequin waste with faded jeans and a big white pen, stencils some waves down the sides, I was trying to create movement in the water...
I stenciled a vine with Vitrail Pebeo paint, trying to make it look like sea weeds
I painted the N scrabble letter with the Pebeo paint, used my white pen to make the letter stand out..
I stamped the word on mixed media paper using the blues again, I added white dots, I like that look. I used a piece of green plastic netting from a bag of oranges, the cut some corrugated, for a backing  inked the raised part with walnut stain ink , attached 2 twigs with some string for rope and I punched a circle and wound  the string around it, attached it with string. For the back panel I used an old piece of cardboard from a picture frame, painted it with some folk art paint in white, light blue and metallic blue..
I hung it with a few strands of yarns to also look like sea weeds..
I had a great weekend dreaming with the Dragons having some big fun creating..........
Thanks so much for visiting my crazy nest and staying till the end, shesh another long post again...
Hope you all have a wonderful week,  I'm going to fly around and visit the others dreaming with the dragons..  ((( BIG HUGS )))..

Dianne, this is fabulous! I love how big it is and I love that corrugated card addition at the bottom with the driftwood! I love the idea of nereids! Mermaids and sea nymphs have always been special to me since I was a little girl and read about the ballet Ondine (she was a sea nymph. I love all your different nereid images. I must look for some sea nymphy stamps - or maybe create some of my own. You are such an inspiration you always set my Magpie brain whirring and my mad wings flapping! You should run classes in creativity - and I mean that seriously. Thank you for dreaming with the Dragons! Julie Ann xxx

Fabulous tag Diane, your sister is going to love it!! Great size too and love your choice of N word and all those shimmery bits. Also how wonderful to find that Greek word on Wiki!

As a teacher I can't help but respond to your question re the plural of a Nymph and would that need an apostrophe... Plurals never need them unless you are also using it in the possessive form, i.e. dragons' dream in the sense of the dream of dragons. Oh and the word Its only needs an apostrophe when it stands for it is, not when it is possessive. So it's a girl, but when it is the description of something, it would just be its description. Very confusing...

Hope you won't take this the wrong way lol, but you were asking right? I always LOVE reading your posts, whether they are grammatically correct or not!!!

What a brilliant choice of word for the N recipe - and a magical watery creation... I love that corrugated panel added at the bottom and the beautiful translucent seaweed - so clever to use the Pebeo paint for that. Fabulous shimmer from the metallics too... lovely!

Hello lovely lady, your piece is stunning, that shades of blue and the mermaids are so eyecathing!
I like to know your mental process, quite interesting how you jumped from a definition to another to fit the theme. It's still...creativity!!
