MISS JULIE ANN INSPIRED GREENWOMAN MASK

Hello my lovelies, it's almost Sunday morning, just in time to add my mask to the Paper artsy challenge here, Miss Julia Ann has made 3 gorgeous mask and inspired me to decorate one I've had sitting around for years, now was the time to do it.

Mine is a Green Leaf Lady, she guards the trees and the birds...

I started with used coffee filters, used Tim's rusty hinge and forest moss paint and water, ( to give the leaves a fall look ) this is what I will cut my leaves out of by hand .
I ran my ink pads across the wrinkles with red barn, rusty hinge ink..
I stamped them all with the only Paper arts stamps I have, a special gift, hot picks 1006. love these... Two the same as the one above..
These I stamped the other filters with the other stamps in the set..
I cut this one in a circle, 1/4 in. around, right  to the middle ..

I made some curly cues with that one...

I cut out all my leaves with the other three coffee filters..

Here are the leaves....

I gessoed the mask twice, then used my Tim's strips stencil with modeling paste to give the mask a bark look..
I mixed gesso with black water color paint from a tube, just stired it to make it marble, then panted it on the mask, added some brown and green to give it a bark look

I had some gesso left, I watered it down and covered some dictionary pages to make some grey leaves, they are cut into a square and then accordion folded, then folded in half, easy and lovely leaves to frame my mask...

Made some vines from wire and green florist tape, then stuck them all on the mask, I also made a little nest with a bird to add to the mask.. Some close ups below...

I adore masks, now I have one of my own to hang in my studio ( front room). Thanks so much for stopping by, it's taken my 3 days to make this, now I can take a wee break from my desk, see you all soon. Hope you all have a wonderful day...
((( BIG HUGS )))...

All that effort was certainly worth it, because this is one fabulous creation! It has a wonderful ethereal feel about it, the bark background looks so realistic and the way you have created your leaves is fantastic. This is a real winner in my book! Anne xxx

Dianne, this is sensational!!! It's just what I love to look at, a flight of fancy! I can imagine it in a wonderful theatrical production or a ballet. I can just see the great dancer, Nijinsky looking amazing in this and leaping up to the sky - then that little bird would really take flight! Oh, but as she's female maybe it would have to be someone like the late Margot Fonteyn! Love that witty, little detail by the way! Thank you for playing along this week and joining me by creating a beautiful mask. It's been such a fun week for me seeing these amazing interpretationsQ I love the ideas of the coffee filters and the way you used the PA stamps was inspired. This is going to look so good in your studio/front room. Now you can relax and enjoy your green woman - may she bring you fruitfulness in creativity and joy! Julie Ann xxx

It's stunning, Dianne - and I find a Green Woman far less threatening than the Green Man somehow (is that weird?). Beautiful stamping on the coffee filters, and the twirls and twizzles look just amazing - a wonderful, fantastical creature to adorn your studio!

Fantastic mask ~ love her!

And using used coffee filters … I have no need for them at home, but my maker at the studio does … so I see them now in a whole new light. Thanks for the inspiration!
