NEW DRESS

New dress, my friend Jan got me the plastic frame at the $ store.
I thought what the heck can I do with this.
I have been trying to make smaller dresses like
http://www.messiejessieblog.co.uk/
I got 2 of them for Christmas, they are really small,
she makes some that fit into candy cans.
Haven't achieved that yet. This form is a lot bigger.
I decided to make a form of the body then dress that.
I took plastic wrap and wrapped it around it, twirled
the two side till it was snug, I used a big clip to hold it.
I soaked some torn strips of book pages in water,
then podged them on her to shape a corset,
leaving a small empty space down the back.
When it dried, I cut the plastic off the back and could
then slip it off the form.
I cover the top with some lovely old lace I got from my DS.
I gessoed some old book pages just over the writing
distressed the edge with Tim's tea dye.
I rolled the pages corner to corner glued them.
I glued them to my form to the back of the hips.
I did a running stitch on the lace gathered it to fit
around the top of the skirt.
For the beads, I had a 50 cent bin at Michael's,
they were a pumpkin, I swirled them around the top
and bottom. They were orange so I painted them
with bronze nail polish.
I had to keep a few words showing on the waist :)..
I first saw a dress made like this on my BBF pinterest.
I knew I had to make one, loving dresses like I do...
I do LOVE how it turned out..
I'm busy making up my give away bags, almost done,
can't wait to get to my desk and create something:):)
I've been visiting all my lovely Ladies and am all a
twitter from all the inspiration....
Thanks for visiting and have a fun creative weekend..

Wow Dianne, all the details you mentioned are so inspiring! The corset you molded to the dress form, the words you left peeking through, and my favorite, the beads you painted with ... nail polish! Such a great idea. The rolled paper of course makes a great skirt. What a fab-u-lous piece of art!
